Chemical Peels
Exfoliate selected layers of skin to address certain tone and texture concerns, with the peel chosen for your skin and recovery needs.
What is this treatment?
Chemical peels use a chemical solution to create controlled exfoliation. Depending on the formulation and depth, a peel may improve selected surface concerns as the skin renews. Peels differ substantially, so choosing an appropriate option matters more than choosing the strongest one.
Areas and suitable candidates
A skin assessment considers your concern, skin tone, sensitivity, pigment-change risk, current products, medications, and history of cold sores or healing problems. The area and peel depth are confirmed before treatment. Not every peel is suitable for every skin type, and active irritation or certain medical factors may require postponement or a different approach.
During your appointment
After consultation and consent, skin is prepared and the selected solution is applied according to its requirements. Tingling, warmth, or stinging may occur. The provider explains what you may feel, how the peel is managed, and the aftercare required. There is no universal application protocol for all peels.
Recovery and risks
Redness, tightness, dryness, sensitivity, and peeling are possible. Superficial peels generally have less recovery than deeper peels, which can require longer healing and closer follow-up. Pigment changes, infection, cold sore reactivation, and scarring are possible complications. Avoid picking at peeling skin and follow individualized cleansing, moisturizing, and sun-protection guidance.
Results and a personalized plan
Changes are assessed as healing progresses. Some concerns may benefit from a series, while others may not be appropriate for peeling. Timing and persistence depend on depth, formulation, the concern, and ongoing skin care and sun exposure. We discuss the expected course, costs, and how to use your home-care products safely around treatment. A particular outcome is not guaranteed.
